Kursrepresentantens kommentarer

Overall, the students expressed a high level of satisfaction with the course and found it both engaging and insightful. They appreciated the opportunity to discuss food systems in a comprehensive way and to explore their different dimensions from multiple perspectives.
At the same time, the students would like to share a few constructive and thought-provoking suggestions that could be considered for future semesters. One recurring point concerns the overall structure of the course. In the past, the course was taught by several lecturers with sessions distributed across the entire lecture period. While this diversity of expertise was highly valued, the alternating structure sometimes made it challenging for students to follow a clear common thread and to identify the overarching themes of the course. Teaching the content in more clearly defined blocks and strengthening coordination among lecturers could help improve coherence and continuity.
Related to this, students noted some uncertainty regarding exam preparation. Although it was communicated that a general understanding of the topics would be sufficient to apply them in a case study format, it was not always clear which lectures, such as guest lectures versus core lectures, or which specific aspects of the material were most relevant for the final exam. More explicit guidance in this regard could help students better assess the expected depth and scope of learning.
Furthermore, students felt that the learning experience would benefit from a closer alignment between the course content and the project work. Linking theoretical concepts more directly to the practical projects could support deeper understanding and application of the material. While students recognize the importance of independent work, clearer guidance and contextualization of project topics would be highly appreciated.
Finally, students suggested that specifying relevant chapters or sections of the course literature in advance of each lecture would facilitate more targeted preparation and enable them to follow the lectures more effectively.
Overall, the students greatly valued the course and its content, and these suggestions are intended as constructive input to further enhance clarity, coherence, and learning outcomes in future iterations.

Kurslärarens kommenterer

God svarsfrekvens på enkäten som diskuterades med kursrepresentanterna Johannes Fischer och Natalia Brand Vasquez 25 november 2025. Överlag får kursen goda omdömen, särskilt när det gäller utformning och feed back av grupprojektet och lärarnas engagemang. Som förbättringsområden nämndes:
Tydligare block i schemat, där kursens olika teman (processing, packaging and consumer/markets behandlas)
Tydlighet i gästlärares föreläsningar, och dess roll i förhållande till examination
Några föreläsningar innehöll upprepningar.
Kurslitteraturens innehåll kan vara tydligare, ett bra förslag som gavs var att ge reading instructions för varje föreläsning.
Bättre information kring sluttentamen, då det för många är första tentamen på LTH. Vi kommer att införa en workshop kring final exam fr o m nästa termin
