Overall the students were very satisfied with the course; through involving in-class discussions and thought out exercises in conjunction with lectures and lecture notes built upon various literary sources the course gave deep insight into "interesting" and "challenging" physics. Albeit being a "tough" course in that it covered a lot of deep and as mentioned challenging physics, many students found the course rewarding and interesting because of much the same reasons. By giving students perspectives from different sources and giving them time to together struggle with the concepts, both in class, during exercise sessions and with many literary tips the teacher provided many ways for the students to learn its contents. I believe the students found that the teacher really went out of his way to provide many ways for the students to digest the course content, resulting in the students themselves being affected by the enthusiasm and hard work put in by teacher - fueling their own motivation and finding the hours spent studying a fair quid pro quo.
Suggested modifications to the course by the students mainly boiled down to some more fleshed out phenomenological parts in the lecture notes as the course contained many ‘advanced’ mathematical results. In a similar manner some also suggested that, when going through lengthy mathematical derivations/calculations during class, a step back from time to time to remind the students of the goal with the calculations might be necessary; as it's easy to lose track of the physics at hand while trying to understand the math. Finally more easily available reading suggestions (the one people used were found under the webpage for the previous year) as well as more readily available literature in the library (spec. Snoke) would be very appreciated.
Kursen hade många deltagare (31 registrerade från NF, LTH såsom 4 doktorander) och den fungerade väl. Studenterna var nöjda med upplägget och de allra flesta gjorde ett väldigt bra jobb med bra betygsresultat. En sak som påpekades i enkäten var att några saknade en lärobok som passade bra till kursen (eller så var den svart och dyrt att få tag i). Här kommer jag att ge tydligare läslistor i framtiden.
